HCL Japan operations returning to normal

The company has stopped all evacuations and is now focused on resuming regular operations in full steam, says HCL Technologies.

SINGAPORE, INDIA, 1 APRIL 2011: HCL Technologies Ltd. (HCL), a leading global IT services provider, announced today that its Japan operations are returning to normal and will be fully functional by end of next week.

The company has stopped all evacuations and is now focused on resuming regular operations in full steam, said HCL in its announcement.  About 70 per cent of its staff in Japan were evacuated in the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Japan.

A large number of evacuees has already returned and almost 40 per cent of the entire local workforce has resumed regular work in HCL's Tokyo and Osaka offices as of today, the company said.  By early next week most employees will be back in Japan.

The company said it continues to keep a close watch on the situation and is in touch with all diplomatic and related agencies to ensure continued safety and security of its employees in Japan.
