Collaboration with Malaysian department of social welfare is part of IBM's 50th anniversary and IBM global Centennial celebrations.

IBM's Noorliza said: "In addition, a volunteer team from IBM Malaysia was awarded the exclusive IBM Catalyst Grant for their work at Ti-Ratana Welfare Society. They had proposed a programme called 'Go Green with Kids' to raise awareness and introduce green technology to 200 children aged between seven and 18 at the Home. This programme involves a series of indoor and outdoor activities over a period of one year with practical experiments and use of computers and the Internet."

She said the Catalyst Grant of US$10,000 (RM30,000) was one of three grants available in conjunction with the Celebration of Service. "It is to support projects by volunteer teams that apply their professional skills or improve their communities' sustainability. There are 100 Catalyst grants available in 2011 through employees, to apply to the organisations with which they volunteer."
