KUALA LUMPUR, 26 MAY 2011 - Technology giant IBM's mobile solutions kiosk sets off on a multi-city roadshow for Malaysian SMEs supported by government agency SME Corp Malaysia and local IBM distributor Avnet Technology Solutions.

The roadshow - IBM Comes To You (ICTY) - is part of IBM's commitment to Malaysian small and medium enterprises [SMEs], according to IBM Malaysia managing director, Ramanathan Sathiamutty. "The ICTY Mobile Solutions Kiosk, packaged as a bus outfitted with IBM hardware, software and technology solutions, is an initiative supported by SME Corp Malaysia and Avnet Technology Solutions, an IBM distributor.  It aims to bring customised solutions for SMEs to address specific pain points and growth needs."

Sathiamutty said the ICTY bus is mobile solutions clinic. "[It]  will visit various industrial and manufacturing areas around Peninsular Malaysia namely Johor Bahru, Melaka,  Sungai Petani in Kedah, Ipoh and Taiping in Perak, and Seberang Prai and Bayan Lepas in Penang over a span of three weeks. The final destination will be Universiti Sains Malaysia campus in Penang on 16 June. The roadshow coincides with IBM Corporation's Centennial celebration on 16 June, and IBM Malaysia's 50th anniversary on 21 June."

"IBM recognises the importance of how SMEs need to integrate technology with business strategy to effect significant growth and to meet the increasing demands of today's business environment," he said. "This roadshow is part of our geographic expansion strategy to bring our expertise and technology solutions to clients in key towns outside Klang Valley at greater speed and efficiency."

"During the road show, IBM will also donate two SME Toolkit kiosks to SME Corp Malaysia's branch offices in Johor Bahru and Penang," added Sathiamutty. "Last year, IBM worked with SME Corp Malaysia and D&B Malaysia to launch the SME Toolkit kiosk in Kuala Lumpur -  a programme that enables entrepreneurs and SMEs to learn how to implement the sustainable business management practices needed for growth in areas such as finance, accounting, international business, marketing, human resources or legal, at no cost."
