Inmarsat — a provider of global mobile satellite communications services — today (20 January 2016) opened a new office in Singapore.
The 1,700 sq metre office in Toa Payoh will house a solutions lab, a knowledge and support centre, training rooms, as well as production and storage facilities.
"This facility not only reflects our confidence in the growth potential of Asia Pacific, but also confirms our ongoing commitment to Singapore as the base for our regional operations," said Rupert Pearce, CEO of Inmarsat.
Singapore has been Inmarsat's Asia Pacific headquarters since 2008. The company confirmed that its decision to invest in a new and expanded facility was driven in particular by Singapore's infrastructure, its innovative culture, and the deep pool of talent on which the company can draw as its expansion in Asia Pacific gathers pace.
Coinciding with the opening of the new office, Inmarsat announced that it has signed an agreement with local telco SingTel for the provision of Inmarsat's L-TAC services. This will enable SingTel to provide beyond line of sight (BLOS) mobile communications to a broad range of government users in the Asia Pacific region.
