Canon Marketing Malaysia's switch in leadership between two of its core divisions - the printing consumer division - Consumer System Products (CSP) - and the Imaging Communication Products division will bring positive benefits to the Malaysian market, according to the printing and imaging solutions provider.
Canon Marketing Malaysia president and chief executive officer Melvyn Ho said that Donny Ling, director of CSP, will take the helm of the ICP division, while Simon Wong will now assume the role as the director of CSP with effect from 1 April 2013.
"I would like to thank Donny Ling and Simon Wong as they have both been instrumental in leading their respective divisions to achieve numerous milestones these past few years," said Ho.
"With their proven track record and expertise, I believe this swap will result in an unrivalled leadership for both divisions that will create waves in the marketplace," he said." I am confident that they will introduce fresh insights and new approaches that will allow the respective divisions to push the boundaries further. Donny Ling has been with Canon since 1987 and has held several key positions in his career with Canon. Ling helped Canon to strengthen its position as the leading Inkjet printer brand in Malaysia with a market share consistently exceeding 50 percent since 1996 till today, said Ho. "Which is a record no other country can boast. In addition to this, Ling also successfully made the laser printer range the number one choice of Laser printers among Malaysians. Under his leadership, Canon has also won numerous awards for the Asia region including the Canon Asia Marketing Group's President Dynasty Award, Reader's Choice Award and the Trusted Printer Brand."
Simon Wong joined Canon in 1988 as a marketing officer and within two years was named Asia's top salesman in 1990. Wong assumed the role as director of ICP in 2011 and has played a pivotal role in positioning Canon among consumers in Malaysia, said Ho. "Under his direction, this key division has also consistently contributed 45 percent of Canon's total turnover and has led the company to win many awards including the Putra Brand Award and Reader's Digest Platinum Award."
