Samsung Malaysia enriches its Smart TV with Spotify, Video Hub

A new partnership with music streaming provider Spotify and the new Samsung Video Hub will give a wider choice of entertainment and movies to Malaysian consumers, said  technology giant Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

During the announcement, Samsung Malaysia Electronics managing director Kwon Jae Hoon, said, "In line with our goal to offer more new content and services through Samsung Smart TVs, Spotify and Samsung Video Hub present the access to database for movies and music. This takes us one step closer to providing consumers with the ultimate entertainment experience."

He said the partnership to Spotify, available for download from Samsung Apps for Smart TV at a monthly subscription of RM14.90 [US$4.62] per month, gives Malaysians access to more than 20 million songs while the app also recommends the most popular music by region.

"We continuously create a world of possibilities through innovative technology in our Smart TVs and now are enhancing the variety and quality of entertainment for our consumers who are very "smart" savvy," he said.

Meanwhile the Samsung Video Hub is best viewed on the latest Samsung UHD TVs, he said. Users can stream or download video and watch it across multiple Samsung devices from Smart TVs to Galaxy mobile devices with the same Samsung account.

"Malaysians are always on the lookout for new avenues to enhance their home and personal entertainment experience," said Kwon. "This partnership with Spotify is an important milestone for the area of home entertainment. Consumers will enjoy an extensive range of entertainment media through the Spotify application and Samsung Smart TV on-demand."
