But going forward, we are planning to focus on the smaller cities in India. Our fundamental go- to -market is the channel. Most of our business in India comes through the channel partner route. The channel is the force multiplier. We have more than 65 partners in India for whom we do post sales certification and also have certain rebates for them.
CW: Will the Brocade University become a big revenue channel in the future or a profit centre?
Dias: Brocade's philosophy for training is for non-profit causes. The advanced training courses and certifications that Brocade offers its end customers and partners enables them to seamlessly deploy our technology and exploit the feature richness that we provide through our software capability on the entire family of Ethernet switching, storage and converged networking solutions.
CW: Has Brocade taken the safe route to collaborate with competition by joining OpenDaylight — an open source framework to boost the market for SDN products? Isn't this move a bit unusual?
Dias: We already have initial pilots working on SDN in large customers. We do a hybrid deployment in SDN. We not build our own portfolio but we rather partner with third party vendors from a controller standpoint. SDN is a significant play from a datacenter and a service provider side. We are interoperating with a bunch of controllers but these are still early days.
CW: Has the acquisition of Vyatta given a boost to your SDN game play?
Dias: Vyatta is open source based and through this, we are going to bring in lot of features and functionalities. These are still early days and we are yet to get clarity on where we are headed
CW: In the last 4-5 months, lot of news reports have been doing the rounds online citing unnamed sources that Brocade's board is looking for a buyer? How true is that?
Dias: Brocade is a publicly traded company on the stock market. We have configured ourselves to be a standalone company in the market. I can't stop the analysts or others from making reports and comments such as these. But, these reports are not true.
