Hong Kong's Social Welfare Department has chosen
PCCW Solutions after an open tender process to build a new system to replace the existing Computerised Social Security System that has been in used since 2000.
PCCW Solutions will provide an integrated total solution for the Computerised Social Security System II (CSSS II) under a US$46 million contract with the Social Welfare Department.
As per the agreement, PCCW Solutions, a subsidiary of Hong Kong's premier telecommunications provider, PCCW Limited, will supply, deliver and install hardware and software for CSSS II for 10 years.
Implementation, operations, and the provision of full scale maintenance services are also included in the contract.

"This contract further highlights our reliability, expertise, experience, and know-how in delivering mission-critical projects."
The new system delivered by PCCW Solutions will allow staff of the Social Welfare Department to be better equipped with information of cases.
The department will also become less dependent on paper documents enabling more efficient processing and better service to the public.
Online self-services will be made available to the Social Welfare Department to enhance customer communication and deliver convenient and timely service to customers.
"When designing the solution, our goal was to support the system objectives of the Social Welfare Department to improve business agility, enhance service collaboration and operational efficiency, enable effective monitoring of service quality, and provide better customer-centric social security services through multiple channels," added Fok.
