The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has recently signed an agreement with a Malaysia partner to set up an online trading platform for PSE trading partners and their clients.
The PSE, the country's national stock exchange and one of the oldest in Southeast Asia, has tasked N2N Connect Berhad, a Malaysian company, to provide the exchange an online trading platform to include a web-based trading management system, a mobile wireless application, and risk management.
N2N Connect Berhad (N2N Connect) is an applications service provider (ASP) for the e-commerce and m-commerce segments of the financial industry. It said that its deal with the PSE is its first direct deal among the stock exchanges of the member-countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In Malaysia, N2N Connect has completed or is engaged in implementing direct marketing access for 13 Malaysian stockbroking houses.
With the N2N Connect partnership, the PSE can offer online trading to enable the client of trading partners to execute and monitor orders on their own. With the direct market access gateway, which is available with the new platform, trading partners will be provided trading terminals and automated order-taking facility, and algorithm trading. These capabilities will help the PSE and its partners cut operational costs while increasing efficiency, the parties said.
N2N Connect will provide the PSE software solutions, including a client-server based trading platform for multiple assets, currencies, languages, and exchanges. N2N will also provide the TraderConnect LITE (TcLite) web-based trading management system for both equity and derivative trading, and the iMSL mobile wireless application for equity trading. For risk management, N2N will provide the Broker Management System.
"The solutions provide PSE with a unified platform to connect more effectively with its TPs (trading partners), with the added advantage of having opportunities to connect with exchanges overseas. PSE can improve risk management for itself and its TPs, who can also access advanced tools to give them advantages in securities trading," said Andrew Tiang, managing director, N2N Connect.
Hans B. Sicat, PSE President and CEO, signed the partnership agreement with Nicholas Chua, founder and executive director, N2N Connect, on behalf of its wholly owned subsidiary N2N Global Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (N2N) in Manila early this week.
Sicat expressed confidence in N2N Connect's track record in delivering solutions that can expand the PSE's services to stock market investors. "N2N Connect's experience in information and communications technology and the financial industry spans decades, and we plan to leverage on their expertise so we can provide the most appropriate and efficient solution for our market," said Sicat.
