Singapore to have personal data protection law this year

Organisations worried about the extent of the law and penalties stated in a draft Bill.

Local daily Today said that "now that this new Bill is coming up, the proposed do-not-call (DNC) registry - which means companies cannot contact those who have registered their numbers in the registry - would be some way off". The paper said it was suggested that the registry will be set up a year after the data protection Bill is passed.
