Symantec recently recognised some valued partners in China, some of them being acknowledged for their "specialisations".
At the recently concluded Symantec Greater China Region Partner Engage 2011 Conference in Macao, China, the IT security company acknowledged the contribution of their partners in expanding their business in one of the most important economies in the world.
In an address to top executives from their partner community last week, Bernard Kwok, senior vice president, Asia Pacific and Japan, Symantec, noted that the Greater China valued partners can help Symantec take advantage of business opportunities at a time when the region is undergoing "rapid growth."
"Valued partners are key to our success and with the enhanced Symantec Partner Program, we're focused on helping partners differentiate their business, maximise sales opportunities and accelerate profitability," said Kwok.
David Dzienciol, vice president for Channels and SMB, Asia Pacific and Japan, Symantec, said threats to IT security have become "more sophisticated and highly targeted" and organisations continue to be challenged with data storage demands.
"Whether it is cloud-based services, virtualisation, information security, archiving or backup and recovery, these are all markets which present opportunities for growth for partners with specialised skills and knowledge," added Dzienciol.
The enhanced partner programme recognises channel partners that have gained knowledge and expertise along Symantec's solution area or market segment.
Since the launch of its enhanced partner programme last year, Symantec said it now has nine Solutions Specialisations, one Market Segment Specialisation, and eight Master Specialisations with the breakdown as follows:
- Security: Enterprise Security, Endpoint Management, Data Loss Prevention, IT Compliance, Encryption
- Storage: Data Protection, Storage Management, High Availability, Archiving and eDiscovery
Market Segment Specialisation: Small and Medium Business (SMB)
Master Specialisations: Enterprise Security, Endpoint Management, Data Loss Prevention, IT Compliance, Data Protection, Storage Management, High Availability, Archiving and eDiscovery
As of early May 2011, more than 600 partners in the Greater China region have achieved Symantec Specialisations, Symantec said.
Andy Wu, vice president, Symantec Corporation and president, Greater China Region, said the partnership programme helps partners identify new opportunities in their markets. And opportunities abound in each market as customers become aware of the importance of protecting their information using few resources, resulting in lower spending.
"Through Specialisations, partners can add value to their solutions and services and gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace," added Wu.
Symantec said it will continue to provide partners with tools and resources to upgrade to specialisations to take advantage of new market opportunities and grow their business.
