Singapore is set to experience an increase in demand for systems integration (SI) services, according to a forecast by T-Systems.
T-Systems operates information and communication technology (ICT) systems for multinational corporations and public sector institutions. The company expects this increase will result in more complex challenges for chief information officers (CIOs).
"As businesses continue to grow, CIOs are addressing more complex challenges than ever before. They are expected to establish value-based innovative technological initiatives like scalable information and communication technology (ICT) services 'on demand' that can cope effectively and efficiently with rapid business changes," said Uwe Schlager, managing director, T-Systems in Singapore.
"CIOs are further challenged to manage situations where maintenance is only 20 per cent of the job, but absorbs 80 per cent of effort and budget. This makes it critical for CIOs to secure strong foundations for outsourced IT services, and work with the right innovative partner capable of meeting stringent business and IT requirements."
The company also expects to grow its SI services business portfolio through continued customer demand for business intelligence (BI), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and applications management and modernisation (AMM) solutions.
"We expect to see positive SI growth due to pent-up demand, facilitated by a stable and growing economy," said Uwe Schlager, managing director, T-Systems in Singapore.
"Adoption of emerging delivery models, such as cloud computing, SaaS and application platform as a service (APaaS), will continue to impact the SI market dynamics in the Asia Pacific and Japan."
Conducive business environment
According to T-Systems, companies in Singapore are increasingly adopting SI because of a stable government that has attracted many multinational corporations to invest locally.
The Singapore government is also committed to strengthening its ICT infrastructure to provide a more conducive business environment for companies with aggressive regional expansion plans.
