Malaysian ICT services firm Hitachi Sunway will roll out its first Siemens TeamCenter product lifecycle management [PLM] solution for Thailand electronic manufacturing group Precise Electric.

Under the agreement, Hitachi Sunway will implement a digital engineering solution to drive quality in power distribution and production of sub-station equipment, said Hitachi Sunway group chief operating officer/director of Hitachi Sunway, Cheah Kok Hoong.

Cheah said the deal, which is worth half a million RM [US$156,00] "signifies a milestone to the company's establishment in the SEA region as a fast and upcoming trusted, one-stop partner for IT solutions and services for a diverse range of industry verticals.

"Through this deal, Hitachi Sunway is successfully making inroads into one of the largest manufacturing hubs in Asia, which is Thailand," he said. "We are ready to tap into this market share with our niche in offering specific IT solutions that range from engineering, IT infrastructure and application developments - in order to fulfil every single technology need by our customers' business operations."

"Today, the electrical and electronics industry contributes between 20 to 30 percent of Thailand's annual export revenue that makes up approximately RM150 billion [US$47 billion] for all industries," said Cheah.

PLM support

He said Hitachi Sunway will implement Siemens Teamcenter PLM software to support the group's high voltage equipment productions' design and manufacturing operations, as well to reduce its products' time-to-market.

The implementation will take place over six months and result in optimizing manufacturing resources to achieve higher quality in production output and better design.

Precise Electric managing director, Anusak Benjachaiyaporn, said: "Following an extensive evaluation process, which included major providers in the PLM market, Hitachi Sunway was selected because of their dedication as an IT solution partner that is seriously working towards improving our engineering processes with their proven expertise and solid track record. This gives us confidence in their ability to implement the project smoothly and successfully."

Surawut Kanchitvinijkul, general manager, Transformer Factory at Precise Electric, said, "This particular IT project with Hitachi Sunway is fully in line with the avocation of the group's expansion strategy to build more production factories further to meet the growing demands for our equipment in SEA."

Four phrases were mapped out in the plan to automate Precise Electric's entire production design and engineering development processes of its core products. The first phrase was completed in May 2014 to cover the basic product data management foundation with key focuses on design management, document automation, resource planning and bill of materials.
