The Multidisciplinary Approach

F.Y. Teng | March 25, 2013
IHIS, NHG Pharmacy and Southeast Asia's first complete multi-dose medication management system for the Intermediate and Long-term Care Sector.

Winn then dived into specific numbers indicating the many benefits-including improved medication safety, maximised manpower utilisation, and heightened supply efficiency and productivity-the MMM system has yielded since the day it went 'live' before concluding with a prospective look at where the IHIS and NHG Pharmacy is going to take their MMM system. Planned for future development, according to him, is the expansion of the MMM system's services to private nursing homes, outpatients at 9 polyclinics, all 27 long-stay wards at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and Geriatric Day Care Centres. Also scheduled for rollout soon are new features, such as an electronic ordering interface with Nursing Home systems and the IMH, Automated Medication Inspection Systems (AIMS), an Electronic Intervention Capture System, and a comprehensive Drug Image Library. Quite possibly the biggest development to watch out for coming from the partners, Winn said, is an Automatic Visual Inspection System, which should help "improve the QA process" in the delivery of pharmacy services among Singapore's major health care providers.
