CW: What's the investment story since Uwin Iwin launched operations in India last year?
Sand:The core investment is in transfer of learning and IP to talented local staff and as a service company we do not invest in stock, assets and equipment like other businesses. Our start up capital outlay will reach about a million USD and we are already at self sustaining revenue levels.
CW: Your key message to the channel centric technology companies in this region.
Sand: The IT channel sector is well known to us in other markets and Acer in Africa is one such reference client. We have had few strategic discussions with Acer, HP, Dell, Samsung and Microsoft so far. We hope to actively engage with our first IT channel client who further wants to gain that fast track competitive edge in their channel ecosystem. The telecoms and handset technology companies are also massive clients for us in other markets and we are witnessing a great traction in this space so far in India too.
CW: What specific mandates have you set upon in the new role as President of Society of Incentives and Travel Executives (SITE)?
Sand: As an international body SITE is the professional global association for people in the channel incentive, employee engagement and motivational events industry. And as such, there are multiple mandates that its president has to accomplish. These include improving and innovating education content, delivery and access to this collective global body of knowledge that is continually being generated within the association, designing world class and relevant research through the SITE Foundation that adds value to the body of knowledge, being the leading advocate and authority within the six geographic regions of the world for the industry (South America, North America, Europe, India, Asia, and Africa), growing membership and member value globally, growing leadership talent within the association of existing volunteer leaders and young future leaders, delivering great education, networking and trade events for membership globally.
