On Tuesday Google announced a pending update to the Android Play Store app that will reportedly make it easier to find and purchase content in the company's ever-growing digital storefront.
Icons and images are now bigger, making them easier to see, and recommendations automatically appear as you scroll down pages. Related content is now grouped together so you don't have to jump through multiple screens. Google has also streamlined the purchasing process, so you can start watching that movie you rented even sooner.
Overall I'm a big fan of the Play Store's new look--it's less cluttered and much more colorful than the current iteration. In some ways it resembles the desktop version of the Play Store, which received a similar redesign late last year. The Play Store app update starts rolling out today to phones and tablets running Android 2.2 or higher, and the rollout should be complete in the next few weeks.
