KUALA LUMPUR, 5 JUNE 2009 - A new partnership has been formed to meet the growing demand for security and storage solutions from Malaysian small and medium businesses, according to Malaysian IT distributor ACA Pacific.

"ACA Pacific has become the distributor for Huawei Symantec's entire range of network security and storage solutions aimed at small and medium businesses (SMBs)," said ACA Pacific Technology managing director Mark Gill.

Gill said ACA Pacific has joined Huawei Symantec's global channel recruitment programme, known as 'Orange Path.' "As the demand for data grows, companies need more optimised and integrated solutions."

Huawei Symantec Technologies is a network and security provider with more than 3,000 employees.

Prepare for the upturn

Huawei Symantec president of international sales and services, Victor Xu, said the company has a regional office in Kuala Lumpur and is confident of securing a significant portion of the Malaysian market

Included in the range of services, was cloud computing services such information, applications and storage as cloud computing services, said Huawei Symantec's storage solution manager, Raymond Ng. As SMBs have constrained capacity for IT resources and staffing, such cloud services are expected to be in demand.

"Now is the time to establish new plans and gear talent for the upturn," said ACA Pacific's Gill. At first glance it may not seem an ideal time, but there are opportunities out there.

"With a local market size of about US$65 million, according to global analyst firms, the local storage industry is set to explode due to the enormous amount of data such as text, e-mails, and document imaging generated by organisations today," said Gill. "This strategic partnership will enable both companies to meet the increasing market demand for network security and storage solutions."
