Websense offers non-traditional threat protection

New Triton RiskVision can detect more advanced threats normally not identified by other solutions, says Websense.

Websense, Inc. recently announced a new solution which the company claims can detect threats better than traditional solutions.

Websense said its TRITON RiskVision can detect targeted attacks and unknown malware which are sometimes concealed by cyber criminals through proprietary and custom-encrypted data. By using heuristics, behavioural analysis and sandboxing, Websense said its solution can help organisations counter possible cyber attacks promptly.

Websense said its latest solution can detect advanced persistent threats (APT) and targeted attacks, which have been a consistent challenge to organisations lately.

“Today’s advanced threats are often invisible to traditional web security solutions and simple threat monitoring,” said Russ Dietz, CTO, Websense. “Organisations need rapid intelligence to outmaneuver cyber criminals. TRITON RiskVision outperforms other technologies by providing immediate visibility into the cyber threat landscape and actionable data to facilitate swift network security reinforcement.”

One platform

TRITON RiskVision offers four key defences in one platform, including the Websense Advanced Classification Engine (ACE) for defence assessment; the Websense ThreatSeeker Intelligence Cloud for protecting millions of endpoints; the Websense TRITON ThreatScope for multi-layer sandboxing; and the data loss prevention defences.

Independent market analyst IDC said the Websense solution comes with threat monitoring technology which organisations these days require to protect themselves from advanced cyber crimes.

“Uniquely positioned within the market, it combines Websense’s advanced threat protection intelligence with data loss detection and sandboxing. The demand for specialised threat analysis and protection will increase as more companies determine they require additional detection capabilities,” said Charles Kolodgy, research vice president, IDC.

Websense added that they offer the advanced protection features from a single appliance that can be used across different platforms in a network. TRITON RiskVision is also scalable across the network.

TRITON RiskVision is part of the overall Websense TRITON product portfolio, which provides intelligently integrated web, email and data protection.
