What are the properties of Ti3C2Tx MXene

What is Titanium Aluminum Carbide?

Titanium aluminum carbide (Ti3AlC2) belongs to the hexagonal crystal system and has the characteristics of metal and ceramics: it has the same conductivity and heat conduction as metal but the same high elastic modulus and excellent high-temperature mechanical properties as ceramic with good conductivity. Titanium carbide is used to prepare cermets, frequently used to machine steel materials at high cutting speeds. Aluminum is used for aircraft, trains, overhead power cables, saucepans, and cooking foil. Titanium is used for fighter aircraft, artificial hip joints, and pipes in nuclear power stations. Light aluminum and titanium alloys are very attractive for aerospace and automobile industries due to their low density and high specific strength. Titanium and its alloys also are widely used for biomedical applications like artificial joints and dental implants.

What are the properties of Ti3C2Tx MXene?

Due to its hydrophilicity, high conductivity, and excellent adsorption, antibacterial, and reducing properties, Ti3C2Tx MXene has been widely used in water treatment in recent years, such as desalination, removal of heavy metals, organic dyes, radionuclides, and bacteria. The chemical structure of Ti3C2Tx MXene was verified to include a central Ti3C2 layer formed by three layers of Ti atoms and two layers of C atoms stack to each other, and surface functional groups formed by O atoms, F atoms and OH− bonding to Ti3C2 layer, being consistent with the theoretical structure.

What is the ammonia sensing of polymeric ti3c2tx MXene composites for room temperature?

The resulting PEDOT: PSS/MXene composites were fabricated using a dip coating technique into a gas sensor. The composite sensor measured ammonia (NH3) at room temperature. It showed a strong gas response of 36.6% against 100 ppm of NH3, with a response and recovery time of 116 and 40 s, respectively. Pristine MXene Ti3C2 (Fig. 1(a)) has a hexagonal lattice constant a = 3.071 Å, which agrees with the experimental value of 3.057 Å. The results showed that a single Ti3C2 layer is approximately 11.4 – 11.8 Å (1.14 – 1.18 nm) thick with 20.3 – 21.5 Å (2.03 – 2.15 nm) interstacking layer gaps. This results in a total thickness of approximately 32 Å (3.2 nm), consistent with the model-dependent lamella model analysis.
