Selenide Powder
What is Selenium powder?
Selenium is a non-metallic element with the chemical symbol Se, which is located in the fourth cycle of the periodic table of chemical elements, group VI A (element 34). It can be used as photosensitive materials, catalysts in the electrolytic manganese industry, essential nutrients for animal bodies, and beneficial nutrients for plants. Selenium exists in nature in two ways: inorganic selenium and plant-active selenium. Inorganic selenium generally refers to sodium selenite and sodium selenate, obtained from the by-products of metal deposits; the latter is selenium combined with amino acids through biological transformation, generally in the form of selenomethionine.
The CAS number of selenium is 7782-49-2, the EINECS number is 231-957-4, the melting point is 221 ℃, the boiling point is 684.9 ℃, water solubility: insoluble in water, alcohol, soluble in sulfuric acid, nitric acid, alkali. The density is 4.81 g/cm³. The appearance is gray solid with a metallic luster.
Selenization means that hydrogen selenide dissolved in water can precipitate many heavy metal ions into particles. Selenium and metals in the oxidation state +1 can generate two kinds of selenides, namely normal selenides (m2se) and acid selenides. Selenium is one of the trace elements necessary for human body and biology. It can regulate the absorption and consumption of vitamins A, C, E, and K, cooperate with vitamin E to protect cell membranes, and participate in the catalytic reactions of various enzymes in the body. It is an essential component of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and iodothyronine deiodinase (ID).
Application of selenium powder
Selenium powder is used in electronics, glass, metallurgy, chemical industry, medical treatment, agriculture and other fields.
Selenium has photosensitivity and semiconductor properties, and is often used in the electronics industry to manufacture photovoltaic cells, photoreceptors, laser devices, infrared controllers, photocells, photoresistors, optical instruments, photometers, rectifiers, etc. The use of selenium in the electronics industry accounts for about 30% of the total demand.
Selenium and selenide powder are important semiconductor materials with excellent photoelectric properties.
