This is a type of covalent refractory high-temperature ceramic material, with a hexagonal structure. It’s an ultra-high temperature ceramic with a melting points of 3246degC. Because of its low density (6.09 g/cm3), and excellent high-temperature resistance it is a good candidate for high-temperature aerospace uses such as hypersonic flight and rocket propulsion systems. The unusual ceramic is extremely thermally and electrically conductive and shares many of the same characteristics as titanium diboride or hafnium triboride.
Zirconium boride is a natural hard gray crystal. The three main components of zirconium boreide are zirconium biboride (zirconium diboride), zirconium tribromide and zirconium boride.
