The 17-4PH stainless is improved by the 15-5PH. This finer structure was achieved by the remelting procedure. This delicate structure increases the toughness. The material has excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for many different industries. It can be processed either in the solution annealing stage or final heat-treatment state. Heat treatment at different temperatures improves the strength and ductility.

Any conditions are acceptable for processing 15-5PH. First, the alloy is slightly formed under the conditions for averaging. Then, it is welded by using techniques such as protection fusion or resistance method. The material was heated at 1038degC (1900degF), for 1/2 hour, and then cooled in air. It is then followed by annealing the alloy at 1038degC for 1 hour and cold working.
